Bilazest M Tablet is used for managing various allergic conditions, such as allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma. It combines bilastine, an antihistamine, with montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist.
Bilastine blocks histamine, the chemical the body releases during an allergic reaction, easing sneezing, itching and a runny nose, while montelukast blocks leukotrienes, substances that cause airway inflammation and tightening, making the combination useful when allergic rhinitis occurs alongside an asthma or wheeze component.
Take this tablet as prescribed, usually in the evening, on an empty stomach or at least one hour before or two hours after food, as bilastine absorption can be reduced by food, and continue regularly as your doctor advises.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, epilepsy, or any history of mood changes, as montelukast has rarely been linked with changes in mood or behaviour, including sleep disturbance. Avoid driving until you know how this medicine affects you, and speak to your doctor before starting treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
