CompositionEptoin Tablet is used to control and prevent epileptic seizures in adults and children, including partial-onset and generalised tonic-clonic seizures. It is a single-ingredient anti-epileptic medicine containing phenytoin.
It is also used to help prevent seizures after a brain injury or brain surgery. Take it at the same time each day, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly, and do not switch brands without your doctor's advice, as small differences can affect seizure control.
Brushing and flossing well and visiting a dentist regularly help reduce gum problems, while getting enough sleep and avoiding alcohol can help lower the chance of seizures.
This medicine has a narrow safe range and interacts with many medicines, so tell your doctor about any liver disease or pregnancy, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Your doctor may check the level of the medicine in your blood. Report gum swelling, a skin rash, loss of balance or unusual bruising promptly. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
