Dosage Forms Available

• Bilastine + Montelukast can be taken orally (as tablets).

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is generally meant for adults. Children should be given this combination under a doctor's guidance.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to bilastine, montelukast or any of its ingredients.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with macrolide antibiotics (such as Erythromycin and Clarithromycin), antifungals (like Ketoconazole, Itraconazole, and Fluconazole), antacids and H2-receptor antagonists (such as Magnesium Hydroxide, Aluminium Hydroxide, Ranitidine, and Famotidine), and HIV protease inhibitors (like Ritonavir and Saquinavir).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medication may cause symptoms like headaches, feeling sleepy, feeling tired, stomach pain, diarrhoea, and dry mouth. In case of an overdose, inform your doctor immediately.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Never take two doses at once to make up for a missed dose.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are mild and disappear when you stop taking the medicine. But if you have any severe side effects or if your symptoms get worse, please consult your doctor.

• Drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration. Do not take any medicine to cure diarrhoea without consulting your doctor.
• Remain calm and take a break. Eat and drink slowly, and have small and frequent meals. Putting a heat pad on your stomach may also help.
• Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy food.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• This medication can cause drowsiness. If you feel drowsy or sleepy after taking this medicine, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine. It may be used during pregnancy and lactation only if it is considered to be clearly essential.

Caution in Other Conditions

• If you have severe kidney or liver problems, use this medicine with caution. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• Avoid taking this medication with grapefruit juice or other fruit juices. This will decrease the effect of this medicine.
• You can take the tablet and wait for one hour before taking food or fruit juice.
• If you have taken food or fruit juice, wait for two hours before taking the tablet.
