CompositionBetacard-AM Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina). It is a combination medicine containing amlodipine and atenolol, and belongs to the classes of calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers.
Together the two medicines relax the blood vessels, lower the heart rate and reduce the strain on the heart. Take this tablet as prescribed at the same time each day, with or without food, and continue taking it even if you feel well, since high blood pressure often has no symptoms. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Reducing salt in your diet, staying physically active within your limits, maintaining a healthy weight and limiting alcohol support heart health alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have asthma or a very slow heart rate before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report swelling of the ankles or feet, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly or unless your doctor advises you to do so, as this can worsen angina or trigger heart problems, and any dose change should be made gradually under medical supervision.
