Amlodac AT Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and to prevent chest pain (angina). Controlling these helps lower the workload on the heart and helps reduce the risk of heart-related complications.
It contains amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and atenolol, a beta-blocker. It can be taken with or without food. Take it as prescribed, and do not stop it suddenly, as stopping a beta-blocker abruptly can worsen chest pain or blood pressure.
Lifestyle measures support treatment for blood pressure and angina. These include reducing salt, eating a balanced diet, regular gentle exercise as advised, keeping to a healthy weight, limiting alcohol, and quitting smoking.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have asthma, breathing problems, diabetes, or circulation problems in the hands and feet, as beta-blockers can affect these. Report marked swelling of the ankles, a very slow heartbeat, or breathlessness. It is not generally recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
