Azicip 200 Oral Suspension 15ml is used in children to treat bacterial infections such as ear infections, throat infections and chest infections. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing azithromycin, and belongs to the class of macrolide antibiotics. Give your child this medicine only after it has been prescribed for them by their doctor.
This medicine works by interfering with the bacteria's ability to produce essential proteins, which stops bacteria from growing and spreading, allowing your child's immune system to clear the remaining infection more effectively. It is particularly useful because it often requires a shorter course of treatment than many other antibiotics. Shake the bottle well before each use and measure the dose carefully with the provided spoon or dropper, as prescribed by your child's doctor.
Complete the full course of this medicine even if your child feels better, to help prevent antibiotic resistance and ensure the infection clears completely.
Tell your child's doctor about any known allergies to azithromycin, and about any other medicines your child is taking, before starting this medicine. Report any persistent vomiting, diarrhoea or stomach pain to your child's doctor. Do not stop giving this medicine unless the doctor advises you to do so.
