Acloveer 800 Tablet is used to treat shingles (herpes zoster) and to manage severe or recurring episodes of genital herpes. It contains aciclovir, a single-ingredient antiviral medicine that works by interfering with the virus's DNA replication, stopping it from multiplying during an active outbreak.
This medicine is most effective in shingles when started within 72 hours of the first sign of a rash, as it significantly reduces the duration of pain and the risk of long-term nerve pain. It is also used to treat chickenpox in high-risk patients to prevent complications. Take this tablet with a full glass of water, with or without food, as prescribed by your doctor, and complete the entire course even if your skin lesions begin to clear up early.
Staying very well hydrated throughout the day supports the kidneys while taking high doses of this medicine.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing kidney disorders, as your dose may need adjustment. Inform your doctor about any side effects that occur during treatment.
