Xapilis 2.5 Tablet is used to prevent and treat harmful blood clots. It is used to lower the risk of stroke in people with an irregular heart rhythm (non-valvular atrial fibrillation), to treat and prevent clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and lungs (pulmonary embolism), and to prevent clots after hip or knee replacement surgery.
It belongs to a group of medicines called anticoagulants (blood thinners), which reduce the blood's tendency to form clots. Take it as prescribed, and do not stop it without medical advice, as this can raise the risk of a clot. Tell any doctor or dentist that you take it before any procedure.
Alongside this medicine, taking care to avoid cuts and injuries, using a soft toothbrush, and carrying information that you take an anticoagulant can help keep you safe.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any bleeding problems, a stomach ulcer, recent surgery, or kidney or liver problems, or other medicines you take, including painkillers. Report any unusual bruising or bleeding, black stools, blood in the urine, or a severe headache. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
