Tigatel 40 Tablet is used in the long-term management of high blood pressure and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in adults at high risk.

Tigatel 40 Tablet contains telmisartan (40 mg), which operates in the body as follows:

• Blocks Angiotensin II: Telmisartan works by selectively blocking angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels (vasoconstrictor), from binding to certain receptors in tissues such as vascular smooth muscles and adrenal glands.

• Reduces Blood Pressure: By blocking angiotensin II, telmisartan effectively reduces vascular resistance, resulting in lower blood pressure.

• Increases Plasma Renin Activity: The blockage of angiotensin II receptors causes an increase in plasma renin activity and angiotensin II concentration. However, telmisartan does not inhibit the enzyme that converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II.
