Thyronorm 62.5mcg Tablet is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) in adults and children by replacing the thyroid hormone the body lacks, and it is used after thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatment for thyroid cancer.
It contains thyroxine, a thyroid hormone. It works by replacing the hormone the thyroid gland is not making enough of.
Take it on an empty stomach, 30 to 60 minutes before your first meal, at the same time each morning. Avoid taking calcium, iron or antacids within four hours of it, and do not change the dose or stop it without medical advice.
Tell your doctor about any heart disease, diabetes or adrenal problems before use. Regular blood tests (T4 and TSH) guide the dose. A rapid heartbeat, sweating or shaking can mean the dose is too high, so report these promptly.
