Thyronorm 12.5 Tablet is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) by replacing the thyroid hormone the body is short of. It is a single-ingredient thyroid hormone medicine containing levothyroxine (thyroxine).

It eases symptoms such as tiredness, weight gain and low energy, and is also used to help manage goitre and thyroid cancer. Take it on an empty stomach, usually in the morning at least 30 minutes before food, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.

Take it at the same time each morning, and keep calcium, iron and antacids apart from this medicine. Your dose is set by blood tests and may be adjusted over time.

Before starting, tell your doctor if you have heart problems, diabetes or adrenal gland problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report a racing heartbeat, sweating, restlessness or weight loss, which can suggest the dose is too high. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
