Rifaclean 400 Tablet is an antibiotic primarily used to treat traveller's diarrhoea caused by non-invasive E. coli. Unlike most antibiotics, it is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream, meaning it stays in the gut to target the infection directly.
It is also used to manage irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D) and to help reduce the risk of recurrence of hepatic encephalopathy in people with liver disease. In liver disease, this tablet helps reduce the amount of ammonia-producing bacteria in the gut, which prevents toxins from reaching the brain and causing confusion, helping maintain mental function.
Follow your doctor's instructions for the full duration of the course, even if your bowel movements return to normal early.
If you experience severe stomach pain or if the loose motions worsen, contact your doctor. This medicine is not effective for infections that have spread outside the digestive tract.
