It relaxes blood vessels to lower blood pressure and relaxes the muscles around the prostate and bladder neck to improve urine flow.
It belongs to a group of medicines called alpha-blockers. The "XL" form releases the medicine slowly for steady, 24-hour effect. Take it as prescribed, usually at the same time each day.

Tell your doctor about any heart, kidney or liver problems before starting, and about other medicines you take, especially other blood pressure medicines. If you are due to have cataract or other eye surgery, tell your eye surgeon you take this medicine. Report dizziness or fainting, especially when standing up.
