Renopress-XL 2.5 Tablet is an extended-release alpha-1 adrenergic blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and relieve urinary symptoms associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). It is also prescribed for managing heart failure and severe Raynaud’s phenomenon.
It contains Prazosin Hydrochloride in an extended-release (XL) formulation. Prazosin works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily throughout the body, lowering blood pressure. In BPH, it relaxes smooth muscle tissue in the prostate gland and bladder neck, making urination easier.
Swallow the extended-release tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. Take your dose at bedtime or as directed by your doctor to reduce the risk of initial dizziness or lightheadedness upon standing (postural hypotension).
Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, heart failure, or are planning cataract surgery, as alpha-blockers can affect eye muscles during surgery (Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome).
