Oxetol 450 Tablet is used to control and prevent partial-onset seizures in adults and children aged 6 and above with epilepsy, on its own or with other antiepileptic medicines.

Uses of Oxetol 450 Tablet are:

• Partial Seizures: Controls and prevents partial-onset seizures.
• Monotherapy or Add-on: Used alone or alongside other antiepileptic medicines.
• Seizure Reduction: Helps reduce the frequency of seizures.

Follow these instructions while taking Oxetol 450 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid cutting, crushing or chewing the tablet.

• Take this medicine with or without food at your convenience.

• Do not take more than the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

• It's important not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Oxetol 450 Tablet contains oxcarbazepine (450 mg), which acts on the body as follows:

• Voltage-Sensitive Sodium Channels Blockade: Oxcarbazepine works by blocking these channels found in your nerve cells. These channels play a vital role in the generation and conduction of electrical signals in the nervous system. By blocking these channels, oxcarbazepine helps stabilise overly excited nerve membranes.

• Inhibition of Neuronal Firing: Oxcarbazepine decreases the repetitive firing of nerve cells. Repetitive neuronal firing is a key factor contributing to seizures. By reducing this firing, the medicine aids in controlling seizure episodes.

• Diminution of Synaptic Impulse Propagation: This essentially means that oxcarbazepine reduces the spread of electrical signals from one nerve cell to another at synapses (the junctions where nerve cells meet). This action further assists in managing seizure activity.
