Nexpro Junior Suspension is used in children over 1 year old to manage acid reflux (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. It is also effective for treating Zollinger-Ellison syndrome by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. This helps relieve stomach pain and prevents acid from damaging the delicate lining of the child's food pipe.

Giving Nexpro Junior Suspension to your child involves the following steps:

• The contents of the sachet should be mixed with water to form a suspension for consumption.

• Shake well before use to ensure a homogenous mixture.

• The medicine should be given at least 1 hour before meals.

• For precise dosing as per your child's age, weight, and health condition, consult your doctor.

Nexpro Junior Suspension is given orally.

Nexpro Junior Suspension contains esomeprazole (10 mg), which acts on the body as follows:

• Inhibits H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system: Esomeprazole works by blocking an enzyme system known as the H+/K+ ATPase, or proton pump, in certain cells found in the stomach lining called gastric parietal cells.

• Reduces stomach acid production: By inhibiting the activity of this proton pump, esomeprazole effectively reduces the production of stomach acid. This helps relieve symptoms and promotes healing of the damaged lining of the oesophagus in patients with GERD.

• Store Nexpro Junior Suspension at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Keep it in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.

• Ensure the product is used within 30 minutes of preparing the suspension.

• Keep Nexpro Junior Suspension out of reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date before giving this medicine to your child.

• Provide your child with a balanced diet, especially rich in fibre. This can help manage gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) by promoting healthy digestion and preventing constipation, which can exacerbate GERD symptoms.

• Avoid giving your child foods that can trigger acid reflux or heartburn, such as spicy or fatty foods, chocolate, citrus fruits, and caffeine. These can provoke excessive stomach acid production and worsen GERD symptoms.
