Lopamide Tablet 10

Lopamide Tablet is used to manage symptoms of acute and chronic diarrhoea, including traveller’s diarrhoea and diarrhoea linked to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It works by slowing bowel movements, reducing stool frequency, and controlling fluid loss, helping manage diarrhoea.

• Swallow the Lopamide Tablet whole with a full glass of water.
• Do not chew, break or crush the tablet.
• Adults and children over 12 years old should take two tablets initially and then one tablet after each loose stool, up to a maximum of four tablets in 24 hours.
• For children between six and twelve years old, one tablet initially followed by one tablet after each loose stool, up to a maximum of three tablets in 24 hours, is recommended.
• It is better to take this medicine at the same time every day, with or without food.
• If you experience severe side effects like difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, seek immediate medical attention.

Lopamide Tablet is taken orally.

Lopamide Tablet contains an active ingredient called loperamide which works by decreasing the flow of fluids and electrolytes into the bowel and slowing down bowel movements. This helps to reduce diarrhoea symptoms.

• The active ingredient in Lopamide Tablet works by attaching itself to opioid receptors in the intestinal wall, which slows down the activity of smooth muscles in the intestines. This leads to decreased motility and increased absorption of fluids and electrolytes from the intestinal lumen resulting in decreased frequency of bowel movements.
• By reducing fluid loss from the body through stools, Lopamide Tablet helps prevent dehydration that may result from severe diarrhoea.

• Store Lopamide Tablet in a cool and dry place.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep it away from the reach of children.
• Use it before the expiry date mentioned on the package.

• Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
• Avoid consuming dairy products, spicy, oily, and fatty foods during diarrhoea.
• Eat bland foods like bananas, rice, khichadi, daliya and soup.
• Wash your hands frequently to prevent the spread of infection.
• Take rest to help your body fight against diarrhoea.
• Avoid smoking, alcohol consumption, and caffeinated drinks during diarrhoea.
• If you have IBD or any other underlying medical condition, follow your doctor's advice regarding diet and lifestyle modifications.
