CompositionJuslina Tablet is used to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, together with diet and exercise. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing linagliptin 5mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called DPP-4 inhibitors (gliptins).
This medicine increases the body's incretin hormones, which prompt the pancreas to release more insulin and reduce glucagon when blood sugar is high. It can be used alone or with metformin, sulfonylureas or insulin. It does not usually need a dose change in kidney disease. Take it once a day at the same time, with or without food.
Following your meal plan, staying active, keeping a healthy weight and checking your blood sugar as advised are essential for diabetes control.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis, type 1 diabetes or ketoacidosis, and about other medicines you take, especially sulfonylureas or insulin, as the dose of these may need lowering to avoid low blood sugar. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek medical help straight away for severe stomach pain spreading to the back, with or without vomiting, which can signal pancreatitis, and for blistering skin or severe joint pain. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
