Ivepred 16 Tablet is used to treat severe flare-ups of conditions driven by inflammation or an overactive immune system, such as severe asthma, skin allergies and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing methylprednisolone, and belongs to a class of medicines called corticosteroids.
This medicine is also used to reduce swelling around the brain or spine after injury. Take it with food, exactly as prescribed. If used for more than a few days, do not stop it suddenly, as the dose usually needs to be reduced gradually. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Eating a balanced diet with limited salt and enough calcium and vitamin D, and staying active as advised by your doctor, can help reduce some effects of longer steroid use.
Tell your doctor about any infection, diabetes, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers or glaucoma before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Let your doctor know if you are exposed to infections such as chickenpox, or notice a marked change in mood. Report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly or unless your doctor advises you to do so.
