CompositionImiquad Cream is used to treat certain skin growths, including external genital warts, small basal cell carcinomas and actinic keratosis (sun-damage related precancerous patches). It helps clear visible lesions and may help reduce the chance of recurrence.
It contains imiquimod, an immune response modifier that works by encouraging your own immune system to recognise and clear the abnormal skin cells, rather than acting directly on the tissue. Use the cream on the affected area as prescribed, following the specific application and washing schedule your doctor gives you.
Keeping the treated area clean and dry, avoiding sun exposure on the treated skin, and not covering it with airtight dressings, can help the treatment work as intended.
Tell your doctor if you have any autoimmune condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have had a skin reaction to imiquimod before. Report severe skin irritation, ulceration, or if the lesion does not improve after the prescribed course.
