CompositionGLIMDA MV 1 Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled by a single medicine. It combines glimepiride, voglibose and metformin, three medicines that lower blood sugar through different mechanisms.
Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release insulin, metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves insulin sensitivity, and voglibose slows the breakdown of carbohydrates in the gut, which reduces the rise in blood sugar after meals.
Take this tablet with the first bite of your main meals, as your doctor prescribes, since voglibose needs to be present with food to work properly. Keep to regular mealtimes to reduce the risk of low blood sugar.
If blood sugar drops too low while taking this medicine, treat it with glucose (such as glucose tablets or gel) rather than ordinary table sugar, because voglibose can reduce the effectiveness of sucrose in raising blood sugar quickly. Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, and mention planned surgery or contrast imaging.
