Fondalin 2.5 MG Injection 5 ML is used for the following:

• Prevention of blood clots after orthopaedic surgery

• Management of deep vein thrombosis

• Prevention of pulmonary embolism

• Prevention of clots during abdominal surgery

• Management of blood clots alongside warfarin therapy

• Prevention of clots in bedridden patients

• Ensuring proper blood flow in the veins and arteries

• Reducing the risk of dangerous clot complications

Follow these instructions when Fondalin 2.5 MG Injection 5 ML is administered:

• This injection must be administered by a healthcare professional only.

• The injection site should be alternated between the left and right sides.

• The pre-filled syringe is ready to use without additional preparation.

• The solution should be clear without particles before administration.

• Do not massage the injection site after administration, as this may increase the risk of bruising.

• Gentle pressure may be applied to prevent bleeding.

Fondalin 2.5 MG Injection 5 ML is administered via a subcutaneous route.

Fondalin 2.5 MG Injection 5 ML contains fondaparinux (2.5 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Selective Factor Xa inhibition: Fondaparinux selectively binds to antithrombin III, forming a complex that inhibits Factor Xa, a key enzyme in the clotting cascade.

• Prevention of thrombin formation: By inhibiting Factor Xa, this medicine prevents the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin, which is a crucial step in forming blood clots.

• Blocks fibrin formation: Without sufficient thrombin, the formation of fibrin (the protein that creates the mesh-like structure of blood clots) is prevented, keeping your blood flowing normally.

• Targeted anticoagulant effect: Unlike traditional blood thinners, fondaparinux works in a very specific way without directly affecting thrombin or platelets, making its blood-thinning action more predictable and focused.

• Store Fondalin 2.5 MG Injection 5 ML at room temperature between 20 and 25°C.

• Keep the pre-filled syringes in their original packaging until use to protect from light.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.

• If you are receiving Fondalin 2.5 MG Injection 5 ML to prevent blood clots (thrombosis), try to stay active with gentle walking, when possible, as movement helps improve blood circulation and reduces the risk of clot formation.

• Maintain good hydration by drinking 6-8 glasses of water daily, as dehydration can make your blood thicker and increase the risk of clots.
