Emeset Injection 2ml

Emeset 2 ml Injection is used in hospitals to prevent and control nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, helping patients stay more comfortable during treatment.

Uses of Emeset 2 ml Injection are:

• Chemotherapy-related Nausea: Prevents and controls vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy.
• Radiotherapy-related Nausea: Reduces nausea and vomiting linked to radiation treatment.
• Post-surgical Nausea: Controls nausea and vomiting that can occur after surgery.

Follow these instructions while administering Emeset Injection:

• The injection should be administered by a healthcare professional.

• The medication is infused intravenously over a period of 15 minutes or more, depending on the dose and indication.

• For chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, the first dose is generally given 30 minutes before chemotherapy.

• For postoperative nausea and vomiting, the injection is usually administered immediately before anaesthesia induction.

Emeset Injection contains ondansetron (2 mg) which acts on your body in the following ways:

• Selective Serotonin Blockage: Ondansetron works by selectively blocking serotonin's action at 5-HT3 receptors. Serotonin is a substance that can cause nausea and vomiting when released in the small intestine due to certain triggers like chemotherapy drugs.

• Prevention of Serotonin-Induced Vomiting: By antagonising these receptors, ondansetron stops serotonin from causing feelings of nausea or prompting a vomiting response. This action assists in managing nausea and vomiting effectively.

• Store Emeset Injection between 2°C and 30°C, ideally in a cool place.

• Keep the medicine well protected from light.

• Do not freeze.

• Always keep Emeset Injection out of reach of children.

• Use the medicine before its expiry date for optimal effectiveness.

• If you are undergoing cancer chemotherapy or radiotherapy, maintain a well-balanced, nutritious diet. This helps to manage side effects like nausea and vomiting, which Emeset Injection is administered to prevent.

• Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of fluids can help manage constipation or diarrhoea, potential side effects of this medicine.
