This medicine lowers blood sugar through two complementary actions. Take this extended-release tablet as prescribed with the evening meal, swallowed whole without crushing or chewing, and drink enough fluids through the day, since dapagliflozin increases how much you pass urine. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
A balanced diet, regular physical activity, staying well hydrated and keeping the genital area clean and dry support diabetes control and help reduce the risk of infections alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Mention any planned surgery or contrast imaging, since metformin may need to be paused temporarily. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor immediately if you notice deep, laboured breathing, nausea or unusual tiredness, even with a normal blood sugar reading, as this can signal diabetic ketoacidosis. Report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
