Dapavel-M 10/500 Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It contains dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, together with metformin, a biguanide.
Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess glucose from the body through the urine, while metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin, together lowering blood sugar and helping reduce cardiovascular risks such as heart attack and heart failure in eligible patients.
Take this extended-release tablet as prescribed with the evening meal, swallowed whole without crushing or chewing, and drink enough fluids through the day, since dapagliflozin increases how much you urinate.
Tell your doctor immediately if you notice deep, laboured breathing, nausea or unusual tiredness even with a normal blood sugar reading, as this can signal diabetic ketoacidosis. Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, and mention planned surgery or contrast imaging, since metformin may need to be paused temporarily.
