CompositionDapalex Sm 10/100/500 Tablet 10 is an oral antidiabetic medicine used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise and other treatment do not give enough control. It is a combination medicine containing dapagliflozin (which removes excess sugar through the urine), sitagliptin (which increases insulin release when blood sugar is high) and metformin (which reduces sugar production in the liver), and belongs to a class of medicines called antidiabetics.
This medicine works by lowering blood sugar through three different actions: removing sugar in the urine, increasing glucose-dependent insulin release and reducing liver glucose production. Together they help improve HbA1c levels. Take it with food to reduce stomach upset, at a regular time each day, as directed by your doctor.
Staying well hydrated, keeping the genital area clean and dry, following a balanced diet and checking your blood sugar as advised can help you get the most from this treatment.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, a history of frequent urinary or genital infections, pancreatitis, or if you drink alcohol heavily. Stop and seek urgent help if you have severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, rapid breathing or unusual tiredness (possible lactic acidosis or ketoacidosis), and tell your doctor before any scan using contrast dye or any surgery.
