CompositionAtormac 20 Tablet 10 is used to manage high cholesterol levels in adults when diet and lifestyle changes alone do not provide sufficient results. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing atorvastatin, and belongs to a class of medicines called statins or HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.
This medicine works by blocking an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which plays a key role in producing cholesterol in the liver, thereby helping to reduce levels of bad LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing good HDL cholesterol. It can be taken with or without food, at any time of day, in the dose prescribed by your doctor.
A heart-healthy diet, regular exercise, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol support the effect of this medicine and help manage certain cardiovascular health concerns.
Tell your doctor about any liver problems, and about any other medicines you are taking, before starting this medicine. It is not recommended during pregnancy. Report any persistent muscle pain, tenderness or weakness to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
