CompositionAtorlip 20 Tablet is used to treat high cholesterol and mixed blood fats in adults and to help prevent heart attack and stroke. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing atorvastatin 20mg, a statin that lowers cholesterol.
This medicine reduces the amount of cholesterol made by the liver, lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides and raising HDL (good) cholesterol. It is also prescribed to protect people with type 2 diabetes or coronary heart disease. Take one tablet daily at the same time, with or without food, as part of a long-term plan.
Limiting saturated fat, eating more fibre, staying physically active, keeping a healthy weight and limiting alcohol work alongside this medicine to protect your heart.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, an underactive thyroid, kidney problems, muscle problems, diabetes, or drink a lot of alcohol, and about other medicines you take, especially certain antibiotics, antifungals, HIV medicines, ciclosporin and other cholesterol medicines. Your doctor may check your liver with blood tests. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially with fever or dark urine, straight away. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
