Omnacortil-5 Tablet is used to treat inflammatory, allergic and autoimmune conditions, including asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, skin and eye disorders, nephrotic syndrome and rejection after an organ transplant. It contains prednisolone, a corticosteroid that calms an overactive immune response and reduces inflammation, helping protect the body's tissues from ongoing damage.
Take this tablet exactly as prescribed, usually with food to reduce stomach upset. Continue the medicine for as long as your doctor advises, even if you start to feel better, and never stop it suddenly, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms and a flare-up of your condition.
Since long-term steroid use can weaken bones and raise blood sugar, a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, along with regular weight-bearing exercise, is recommended. Try to avoid close contact with people who have infections such as chickenpox or measles, as this medicine can lower your resistance to illness.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, glaucoma, a history of stomach ulcers, or any ongoing infection. Report unusual mood changes, blurred vision, swelling of the legs, or slow wound healing. This medicine should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
