It contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, along with nifedipine, which relaxes the anal muscle and improves blood flow to the area. Apply a small amount of the cream to the affected area as prescribed, usually after cleaning the area gently. Continue using it for the full duration advised by your doctor, even as symptoms start to ease, to support complete healing.
A fibre-rich diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and wholegrains, along with adequate fluid intake, helps keep stools soft and reduces straining during bowel movements, which supports healing of the fissure alongside this cream.
