Xylocaine NF Cream contains two active ingredients:

• Lidocaine (1.5%): This local anaesthetic works by temporarily blocking nerve signals in the area where it's applied. By doing this, it prevents pain sensations from reaching your brain. Lidocaine achieves this effect by stabilising the neuronal membrane, which inhibits the ionic fluxes needed to start and conduct nerve impulses.

• Nifedipine (0.3%): Classified as a calcium channel blocker, nifedipine acts on the smooth muscle cells lining your anal canal, making them relax. This action helps relieve painful spasms associated with anal fissures and increases blood flow to the area, promoting tissue healing. Nifedipine achieves this by blocking the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac myocytes.
