Amlokind-H Tablet is employed for the following health conditions:

Management of high blood pressure or hypertension
Reduction of risks related to fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, such as strokes and heart attacks.

Here's how you should take Amlokind-H Tablet:

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not chew, crush or break the tablet.
You can take the tablet with or without food but try to take it at the same time each day.
Never exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

Amlokind-H Tablet is taken orally.

While taking Amlokind-H Tablet, you may experience the following side effects:

Headache
Dizziness
Fatigue: This means you might feel unusually tired or weak.
Nausea
Abdominal pain
Flushing: This is a sudden feeling of warmth and possibly redness in your face or upper body.
Palpitations: You might feel like your heart is beating too fast, too hard, or skipping a beat.
Peripheral oedema: This refers to swelling in your arms or legs caused by excess fluid.
Muscle cramps

Amlokind-H Tablet consists of two active ingredients:

Amlodipine (5 mg): This ingredient is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It works by blocking the flow of calcium ions into your heart and vascular smooth muscles. This action relaxes your blood vessels, reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering your blood pressure. Additionally, it boosts blood flow and oxygen delivery to your heart.
Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg): Classified as a thiazide diuretic, hydrochlorothiazide inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption at a specific part in your kidneys called the distal convoluted tubule. Hence, it promotes increased excretion of water, sodium, and chloride while only slightly increasing potassium excretion. The reduction in extracellular fluid and plasma volume due to loss of sodium and water leads to lower blood pressure levels.

Pregnancy

If you're pregnant, it's advised to be careful while taking Amlokind-H Tablet. It's a good idea to consult your doctor before starting this medication.

Breastfeeding

When breastfeeding, be cautious with Amlokind-H Tablet. Discuss with your doctor to understand the potential risks and benefits.

Alcohol

While on Amlokind-H Tablet, limit alcohol consumption as it may increase the risk of dizziness and further lower your blood pressure.

Liver
