Zedocef Oral Drops are used to treat susceptible bacterial infections in children.

Uses of Zedocef Oral Drops are:

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Treats bacterial infections such as tonsillitis, bronchitis and pneumonia.
• Ear Infections: Treats acute middle-ear infection caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Urinary, Skin and Soft-Tissue Infections: Treats susceptible bacterial infections affecting these areas.

Give Zedocef Drops to your child as follows:

• Give the medicine orally using the provided dropper.

• You can give this medicine with or without food.

• If your child spits out or vomits the medicine within 30 minutes of giving it, give the same dose again.

• Give the drops at evenly spaced intervals as prescribed by your child's doctor.

• Ensure to shake the bottle well before each use.

• Measure the exact quantity using an oral syringe.

Zedocef Drops are given orally.

Zedocef Drops contain Cefpodoxime Proxetil (25 MG), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: Cefpodoxime works by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). These proteins are critical for making peptidoglycan, a key component of the bacterial cell wall.

• Causes Bacterial Cell Death: By weakening the cell wall, Cefpodoxime causes lysis (breakdown) and death of the susceptible bacteria. This helps in managing the infection effectively.

• Wide Spectrum Activity: As a third-generation cephalosporin, cefpodoxime has an extended range of activity against gram-negative bacteria while still effectively covering gram-positive organisms. This means it can manage a broad variety of bacterial infections.

• You should store the unopened Zedocef Drops at room temperature, ideally not exceeding 25°C.

• Keep the medicine away from light and moisture, ensuring the bottle remains tightly closed when not in use.

• After opening and mixing, refrigerate the suspension between 2-8°C and use it within 14 days.

• Always keep Zedocef Drops out of reach of children.

• Since Zedocef Drops are given to manage bacterial infections, ensure to provide your child with a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. This diet can help strengthen your child's immune system in fighting off any infections.

• Encourage your child to drink ample water. This helps flush out toxins from their body and keeps them hydrated, which is particularly important if they're coping with fever or diarrhoea associated with an infection.
