Yasmin Tablet is used mainly as a birth-control pill to prevent pregnancy when taken as directed. It contains drospirenone and ethinylestradiol, two hormones belonging to the group of medicines called combined oral contraceptives.
This tablet also helps make periods more regular and, for many women, less painful, and may be prescribed to help manage acne and, in selected women, symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Take one tablet as prescribed at around the same time each day, following the pack instructions carefully for reliable protection against pregnancy.
Taking the tablet at a consistent time each day, using a reminder if needed, helps maintain its effectiveness.
Before starting or while using this medicine, tell your doctor about any history of blood clots, migraine, high blood pressure, liver problems, or smoking. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
