Urotone 25 Tablet is used to treat urinary retention and neurogenic bladder in adults, including difficulty passing urine after surgery. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing bethanechol, and belongs to a class of medicines called cholinergic agents.
This medicine helps stimulate the bladder muscle to restore normal urine flow. Take it as prescribed, usually on an empty stomach, as food can reduce its effect and increase stomach upset. Continue taking it for as long as your doctor recommends, and attend all follow-up appointments so your bladder function can be monitored. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Drinking adequate fluids through the day and trying to empty your bladder at regular intervals can support the effect of this medicine. Keep a note of any difficulty or discomfort while passing urine to discuss with your doctor.
Tell your doctor if you have asthma, low blood pressure, coronary artery disease, a peptic ulcer, epilepsy or thyroid problems before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report difficulty breathing, severe stomach pain, heavy sweating or a very slow heartbeat straight away, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
