Bethanechol (25 Mg)

Urivoid 25 Tablet is used to treat difficulty emptying the bladder (urinary retention), including after surgery or caused by certain medicines, helping the bladder contract and pass urine.

It contains bethanechol, which stimulates the bladder muscle. It works by prompting the bladder to contract so it can empty.

Take it on an empty stomach as prescribed to reduce nausea, at the times your doctor advises.

Tell your doctor about any asthma, a slow heart rate, stomach ulcers or an overactive thyroid before use, as this type of medicine can affect them. Report wheezing, a very slow heartbeat, or marked stomach cramps.

Urivoid 25 Tablet is used to treat difficulty emptying the bladder.

Uses of Urivoid 25 Tablet are:

Urinary Retention: Helps the bladder empty when it cannot do so fully.
After Surgery: Helps with retention that follows surgery.
Medicine-Related Retention: Helps retention caused by certain medicines.

Here's how you should take Urivoid Tablet:

Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
Always take the tablet on an empty stomach, ideally 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals to lessen stomach upset.
Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Never exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

Urivoid Tablet is taken orally.

Urivoid 25 Tablet may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Urivoid 25 Tablet are:

Digestive: Abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, feeling sick (nausea) and vomiting.
General and Urinary: Headache, dizziness, sweating, flushing and passing urine more often or urgently.

If side effects do not improve or become serious, speak to your doctor right away.

Management Of Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing the use of Urivoid Tablet. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Abdominal cramps: Try taking Urivoid Tablet after meals, as this can help reduce stomach discomfort.
Nausea and vomiting: Consider taking this medicine with food to manage this effect.

Urivoid Tablet contains bethanechol (25 mg), which works on your body in the following ways:

Muscarinic Receptor Stimulation: Bethanechol acts on the muscarinic receptors, particularly the M3 receptors, in the detrusor muscle of your bladder. The detrusor muscle is a layer of the bladder wall that contracts to push out urine.
Inducing Bladder Contractions: By stimulating these receptors, bethanechol causes the bladder to contract. These contractions help expel urine from the bladder, managing urinary retention effectively.
Minimisation of Side Effects: Owing to its selective action on M3 receptors, bethanechol minimises potential side effects on other organ systems.

Breastfeeding
