Urdohep 300 Tablet is used to treat liver conditions such as primary biliary cirrhosis. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ursodeoxycholic acid, and belongs to a class of medicines called bile acids.
This medicine improves the flow of bile through the liver and reduces the levels of harmful bile acids that can damage liver cells, helping slow the progression of chronic liver disease. It is also used to dissolve certain types of small, cholesterol-rich gallstones in people who cannot have surgery. Take it exactly as prescribed, usually with food or milk. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
A balanced, low-fat diet, staying well hydrated and limiting alcohol support liver and gallbladder health alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any gallbladder problems before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Regular blood tests are often required to monitor your liver enzymes and check the treatment is working effectively. Continue the medicine for the full duration recommended, as dissolving gallstones can take several months. Report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
