Ubexa 40 Tablet is used for the long-term management of gout in adults. It helps lower uric acid levels in the blood, reducing the frequency of gout attacks and preventing joint damage over time.
It contains febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. Take it as prescribed and continue even if a gout attack occurs; do not start this medicine during an acute attack. A temporary increase in gout attacks is common when starting treatment, so your doctor may prescribe colchicine or an anti-inflammatory medicine to help prevent this.
Staying well hydrated, limiting alcohol, and reducing purine-rich foods such as red meat, organ meats, and shellfish can help support treatment. Keeping to all monitoring appointments for uric acid and liver function is also important.
Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor about any history of cardiovascular disease, or kidney or liver problems. Report any signs of a possible cardiovascular event, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, or symptoms of liver problems, without delay.
