CompositionFebucip 40 Tablet is used to manage gout in adults by lowering high levels of uric acid in the blood. It is a single-ingredient xanthine oxidase inhibitor containing febuxostat.
Keeping uric acid low helps prevent painful gout attacks and protects the joints from long-term damage. It is not meant to relieve a sudden gout attack. Take it in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Continue it long term, even when you have no symptoms.
Limit alcohol (especially beer) and purine-rich foods such as red meat, organ meats and shellfish, drink plenty of water and keep to a healthy weight.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have heart, liver or kidney problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Gout attacks can briefly become more frequent when you start this medicine, so your doctor may prescribe another medicine to cover this period. Report a skin rash, especially if it spreads. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
