CompositionTRIMZOLE DS TABLET 10 is used to treat bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, chest infections, traveller's diarrhoea, and middle ear infections. It is also used to treat and prevent a serious type of pneumonia called Pneumocystis pneumonia in people with weakened immune systems.
It contains two antibiotics, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim, which work together to stop bacteria from growing. Take the tablet as prescribed and complete the full course, even if you feel better. Do not stop early, as this can allow the infection to return.
Drinking plenty of water while taking this medicine helps protect the kidneys. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, as this medicine can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, a blood disorder, or are taking other medicines. It should be avoided during pregnancy, particularly near the time of delivery, and in breastfeeding women. Tell your doctor if you develop a skin rash, as rarely a serious skin reaction may occur.
