CompositionOriprim DS Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections such as bronchitis, ear infections, shigellosis and urinary tract infections. It contains a combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole, known together as co-trimoxazole.
Trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole both block different steps in a chemical pathway that bacteria need to grow and multiply, and together they are more effective than either medicine alone, helping clear a range of bacterial infections and preventing certain recurrent infections.
Take this tablet with a full glass of water, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and complete the full course even if you feel better early, to fully clear the infection.
Tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to sulfa medicines, or kidney or liver problems, as co-trimoxazole needs caution in these conditions. Drink plenty of fluids during treatment, and report any rash, sore throat, fever, or unusual bruising, which can rarely signal a serious reaction.
