Septran Ds Tablet 10

Septran DS Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections like Pneumocystis pneumonia, traveller’s diarrhoea, chronic bronchitis, urinary tract infections, middle ear infections, and shigellosis. It works by targeting and killing the bacteria causing these conditions.

• Swallow Septran DS tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may affect the way the medication is absorbed in the body.
• Do not change your tablet dose or take them more often than prescribed.

• Septran DS tablet should be administered orally.

The two active ingredients in Septran DS tablet, sulphamethoxazole and trimethoprim, provide a powerful defence against bacterial infections. Their medicine activity of is as follows:

• Sulphamethoxazole: Sulphamethoxazole is an antibiotic that stops the bacteria from making folic acid. It is a chemical which they need to grow and multiply. By blocking this process, sulphamethoxazole helps to stop the bacteria from spreading and causing more harm.
• Trimethoprim: Trimethoprim, another antibiotic, interferes with DNA synthesis in the bacteria. By disrupting this process, trimethoprim prevents the bacteria from making new DNA, ultimately leading to their death.

• Store this medicine at a temperature below 30 ºC.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Septran DS tablet away from children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

• Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and help flush out toxins from your body.
• For travellers' diarrhoea, it's crucial to replenish fluids and electrolytes lost through diarrhoea. Oral rehydration solutions or drinks with added electrolytes can be helpful.
• Consume a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.
• Incorporate foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to support your immune system and aid healing.
• Probiotic-rich foods like yoghurt or fermented foods may benefit intestinal infections by promoting healthy gut bacteria.
• Avoid spicy or acidic foods. It may worsen symptoms of respiratory infections or urinary tract infections.
• Avoid excessive physical exertion and take breaks when needed to conserve energy.

• Inform your doctor if you have folate deficiency before taking this medicine.
• Complete the full course of treatment as directed by your doctor, even if the symptoms improve before the treatment is finished. 
• Donot take this tablet unless specified by your doctor.
• If you have jaundice, inform your doctor before taking this tablet.
