Topisal 3% Ointment 30Gm

Topisal-3% Ointment is used in:

• Psoriasis: This ointment is commonly used to treat psoriasis, a chronic skin condition characterised by red, itchy, and scaly patches on the skin. 
• Eczema: This ointment may be prescribed for eczema, which causes dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. It helps reduce symptoms and reduce inflammation associated with eczema flare-ups.
• Seborrheic dermatitis: It can be effective in managing seborrheic dermatitis, a common skin condition that leads to red, scaly patches and dandruff. It helps control the inflammation and scaling associated with this condition.
• Dermatitis and allergic reactions: This medication may be used to treat various forms of dermatitis and allergic skin reactions, providing relief from inflammation, itching, and discomfort.
• Other inflammatory skin conditions: It can also be prescribed for other inflammatory skin conditions, such as lichen planus and discoid lupus erythematosus, to help reduce inflammation and relieve symptoms. 

• Before applying Topisal-3% Ointment, wash your hands thoroughly. 
• Ensure that the affected part of the skin is clean and free from dirt or oil.
• Apply the ointment to the affected areas in a thin layer.
• Gently rub in a circular motion until the ointment is absorbed.
• Do not apply on open wounds or cuts.

Topisal-3% Ointment is applied topically.

Topisal-3% Ointment contains the following components:

• Clobetasol propionate (0.05% w/w): It is a high-potency corticosteroid. Its mechanism of action involves suppressing the immune response and reducing inflammation. Clobetasol binds to glucocorticoid receptors, modulating gene expression. This leads to a decrease in the production of inflammatory mediators and an overall reduction in inflammation, itching, and redness associated with various skin conditions.
• Salicylic acid (3% w/w): It is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that functions as a keratolytic agent. It works by softening and loosening the outer layer of the skin (stratum corneum). This helps to promote the shedding of dead skin cells and unclog pores. 

• Store Topisal-3% Ointment in the same container it came in. 
• Keep the ointment at room temperature and away from places with high moisture. 
• Check the product's expiration date and dispose of it if it is not fit for use

• Keep your skin well-hydrated by drinking an adequate amount of water daily.
• Use a fragrance-free moisturiser to prevent excessive dryness or flaking of the skin. Apply moisturiser at least once a day, but not immediately before applying the ointment.
• Protect treated skin from excessive sun exposure. Use sunscreen or wear protective clothing to prevent sunburn and further skin damage.
• Avoid harsh soaps, cleansers, or skincare products that may irritate your skin. Opt for gentle, fragrance-free alternatives.
• Maintain a balanced and healthy diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, to support overall skin health.
• Engage in regular physical activity and manage stress, as stress can exacerbate some skin conditions.
• Quit smoking if you smoke, as smoking can worsen skin conditions.
• Reducing alcohol consumption can help maintain skin health, as excessive alcohol intake can dehydrate the skin.
