Topirol 50 Tablet is utilised for:

• Managing epilepsy, a brain disorder that causes recurrent seizures

• Controlling specific types of seizures: partial-onset seizures and primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures

• Regulating seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy

• Preventing migraine headaches in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older

To use Topirol 50 Tablet properly, follow these guidelines:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.

• Stick to the dose recommended by your doctor.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Topirol 50 Tablet is taken orally.

Topirol 50 Tablet contains topiramate (50mg), which works in the body as follows:

• Enhances GABA Activity: Topiramate enhances the activity of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This neurotransmitter helps calm the brain and nerves, thereby reducing abnormal brain activity.

• Blocks Sodium Channels: Topiramate also blocks certain voltage-dependent sodium channels in the brain. This action helps to further stabilize brain activity and reduce the occurrence of seizures.

• Inhibits Glutamate Receptors: Another mechanism of action of topiramate is its inhibition of kainate/AMPA glutamate receptors. This further aids in stabilizing abnormal brain activity.
