Topirol 50 Tablet is used to control seizures in epilepsy and to prevent migraine headaches in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over. Regular use helps reduce seizure frequency and lowers the number of migraine days.
It contains topiramate, an anticonvulsant. The dose is usually started low and increased gradually as prescribed. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can cause seizures to increase. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day to help reduce the risk of kidney stones.
A consistent sleep routine, avoiding alcohol, and identifying migraine triggers help support treatment. Take care with activities such as driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects your thinking and alertness.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, a history of kidney stones, or glaucoma. Seek medical help immediately if you develop sudden eye pain or vision changes after starting, as this can rarely indicate raised eye pressure. Women of childbearing age must use effective contraception, as topiramate can harm an unborn baby. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
