Tolvat 30 Tablet is used under a doctor's supervision to treat low blood sodium levels in hospitalised patients with fluid overload or water retention.

Uses of Tolvat 30 Tablet are:

• Hypervolemic Hyponatremia: Treats low blood sodium levels caused by fluid buildup in heart failure or liver cirrhosis.
• Euvolemic Hyponatremia: Manages low sodium caused by conditions such as Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone (SIADH).

When taking Tolvat 30 Tablet, please follow these steps:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.

• You can take this medicine with or without food.

• When you feel thirsty during treatment, drink water to avoid dehydration.

• Do not take more than the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

• It's important not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Tolvat 30 Tablet is taken orally.

Tolvat 30 Tablet contains Tolvaptan (30 Mg), which works on your body in the following ways:

• Vasopressin V2-Receptor Antagonist: Tolvaptan is a selective vasopressin V2-receptor antagonist. It binds to V2-receptors in your kidney, blocking the effects of vasopressin, also known as antidiuretic hormone.

• Induces Aquaresis: By blocking the effects of vasopressin, Tolvaptan causes aquaresis, which is the excretion of free water from the body. This process does not affect the excretion of sodium and potassium.

• Increases Serum Sodium Concentrations: As Tolvaptan causes loss of water from the body, it decreases water retention, leading to an increase in serum sodium concentrations. This helps manage hyponatremia or low sodium levels in the blood.

• Store Tolvat 30 Tablet at a cool room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Keep it in its original packaging to safeguard it from moisture.

• Place the medicine in a spot away from direct light and heat.

• Always keep Tolvat 30 Tablet out of the reach of children.

• Make sure to use this medicine before its expiry date.

• Since Tolvat 30 Tablet is used to manage hyponatremia, it's advisable to limit your water intake. Overconsumption of water can dilute sodium in your body, worsening your condition. Consult your doctor for specific instructions about fluid intake.

• If you're dealing with heart failure or liver cirrhosis, reduce your salt intake. Consuming too much salt can lead to fluid retention, exacerbating these conditions. Opt for low-sodium alternatives when possible.
