CompositionSilotime 8 Tablet is used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men, a condition in which an enlarged prostate gland can cause urinary problems. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing silodosin, and belongs to a class of medicines called alpha-1 adrenergic antagonists, also known as alpha-blockers.
This medicine helps improve urine flow and relieve BPH symptoms such as difficulty starting urination, a weak urine stream, frequent urination (especially at night), incomplete bladder emptying and urgency. Take it with a meal at the same time each day. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Limiting fluids, caffeine and alcohol in the evening may help reduce night-time trips to the toilet alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any liver or kidney problems or low blood pressure before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. If you are due to have eye surgery, particularly for cataracts, tell your eye surgeon that you take this medicine. Rise slowly from sitting or lying down, especially at the start of treatment. Report marked dizziness on standing, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
