Redotil Capsule 10 is used to treat acute diarrhoea. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing racecadotril, and belongs to a class of medicines called enkephalinase inhibitors (antisecretory antidiarrhoeal medicines).
This medicine works by reducing the excess secretion of water and electrolytes into the intestines, which helps control diarrhoea and restore normal bowel movements without slowing the gut. It is used when fluids and dietary measures alone are not enough, including for diarrhoea linked to stomach infections or food-related problems. Swallow the capsule as directed and use the dose and duration your doctor prescribes.
Drink plenty of fluids and eat light, simple food while you have diarrhoea, to replace the water and salts you lose.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking other medicines. Speak to your doctor if the diarrhoea continues, you have severe abdominal pain, or you develop a skin rash or swelling of the face or lips.
