• Racecadotril can be taken orally (capsule and sachet).

Age And Dose Restrictions

• It is intended for use by adults and children. 

Contraindications 

• It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Racecadotril. It is also contraindicated in patients with chronic diarrhea, liver and kidney diseases. 

Other Medications To Avoid With This Medicine 

• Avoid taking ACE inhibitors (enalapril) with Racecadotril. These medications may alter the safety and effectiveness of Racecadotril.

Overdose And Missed Dose

• If you take an overdose of this medication by accident and experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor. Strict adherence to the prescribed dose is essential.
• If you miss a dose of Racecadotril, take it as soon as you remember. But, if the next dose is near, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dosing regime.

Management Of Side Effects

• The side effects resolve when the medication is discontinued. If they worsen or persist, consult your doctor for a possible treatment plan adjustment.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

• It is unlikely to impair the mental alertness or coordination required while driving.

Use In Pregnancy And Lactation

• This medication is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Caution In Other Conditions

• Caution is advised in older adults and patients with kidney and liver impairment.

Special Dietary And Lifestyle Recommendation

• Eat easy-to-digest foods and avoid foods that aggravate diarrhea, such as spicy foods.
• Food rich in potassium, such as ripe bananas, should be eaten in case of diarrhea.
• Keep yourself hydrated to compensate for the loss of water and electrolytes.
