CompositionEnuff Capsule is used to treat sudden (acute) diarrhea by reducing the excess water and salts that the intestines lose during an infection. It helps "dry up" watery stools without causing the gut to become paralyzed or constipated. This medication helps prevent dehydration while the body naturally fights off the infection.
This medication contains Racecadotril. It works by inhibiting the enzyme (enkephalinase) that breaks down the body's natural "anti-diarrheal" chemicals. By keeping these natural chemicals active, it significantly reduces the amount of fluid secreted into the gut. It works purely on the gut lining and does not affect the central nervous system.
This capsule should be used alongside Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) to ensure proper hydration. For children, the contents of the capsule/sachet can be mixed with food or water. Consult your doctor if you notice blood in the stool or if the fever remains very high.
