Piclin Oral Solution is used to manage constipation by stimulating bowel movements and making stools easier to pass. It is generally recommended for adults and older children with hard, infrequent or painful bowel movements.
It contains sodium picosulfate, a stimulant laxative. Take it as prescribed, usually at bedtime, so it takes effect the following morning. It is also used before certain procedures such as endoscopy or radiography to clear the bowel.
Drinking plenty of water, eating a fibre-rich diet with fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and staying physically active can help support regular bowel movements alongside this medicine. Avoid alcohol while taking it.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have severe abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, or a bowel blockage, as laxatives are not suitable in these situations. Seek medical help if your symptoms do not improve, or if you notice severe abdominal pain or signs of dehydration.
