To use Picolex Syrup properly, follow these instructions:

• Shake the bottle well before each use to mix the syrup evenly.

• Use a measuring spoon to ensure an accurate dose of the syrup.

• The medicine can be taken directly or mixed with a small amount of water, milk or fruit juice.

• Try to take this medicine on an empty stomach for the quickest effect.

• Do not consume this medicine within 1 hour of eating dairy products or calcium-rich foods as it may reduce its effectiveness.

• This medicine is sugar-based and needs caution for use in diabetic patients. If you have diabetes, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Picolex Syrup is taken orally.

Picolex Syrup contains sodium picosulfate (5 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Conversion into Active Metabolite: Sodium picosulfate is a prodrug. It remains inactive until it reaches the colon where colonic bacteria convert it into its active form called bis-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-pyridyl-2-methane (BHPM).

• Stimulates Bowel Movements: BHPM stimulates the nerve endings in the colonic mucosa, increasing muscle contractions that aid in moving stool through the colon.

• Softens Stool: Sodium picosulfate helps retain water in the colon by reducing electrolyte absorption which results in softer stools. This dual action of increasing bowel motility and softening stools facilitates easier evacuation of faeces.

• Store Picolex Syrup at room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep it in a tightly closed container.

• Protect the syrup from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Always keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

• Stay hydrated: When taking Picolex Syrup, make sure you drink plenty of clear fluids. This helps prevent dehydration due to fluid loss in stools.

• Avoid dairy products: Do not consume dairy products or calcium-rich foods/supplements within 1 hour of taking Picolex Syrup, as these can reduce the medicine's effectiveness.
